Lingering Thoughts

These past two weeks I’ve been feeling overwhelmed – about midterms looming over my head, assignments due, and even just life itself taking unexpected turns. As I was getting ready for bed last night, I brought back one of the most helpful tricks I learned in my first year of university. I pulled out a notepad and started writing down all of the things that were on my mind that were either small (figure out what to bring to a potluck) or large (study for 3 midterms and finish 2 assignments).

 While seeing it all on paper was pretty nerve wracking (especially when my list topped off at four pages), it definitely allowed me to refocus my energy on the most important tasks, relax because it would all get done, and most importantly, to gain some perspective. Although my schedule is undeniably packed with things to do, my list of worries is almost insignificant in comparison to larger things like my relationships, the health of my loved ones, and my overall happiness.
